Spoken analysis Feedback

Script:

In this piece of coursework I will be discussing my spoken feedback, which will significantly help me in creating my advert and digipak. The purpose of this feedback is to allow me to understand the audience’s needs. This feedback will hopefully be helpful in making decisions regarding my digipak and advert.

My first question was based upon the font in which I will be using for my ancillary task. I have shown the participants a variety of different fonts that are possibilities when making the ancillary tasks. I have given the participants a selection of 10 fonts all together in which they must choose there favorite. The font in which received the most praise was the font called “Orator STD” this font is a slim font which looks quite concise. My reaction to the font is a positive one as I believe that the font will suit the ideas I have been brainstorming. When asking the participants why they like the font the general consensus was due t the unique look that it presents

My second question is based upon the colors in which I could possible be using. I showed the participants my initial designs and image manipulation that I have previously shown on the blog, the participants were happy with the outcome of the images however believed that I need to create a more unique design. One commented stated that the design was not professional enough and that I would need to take a new approach upon making the main visual image for the CD Cover. With this information I will make changes to the initial ideas I have to try and implement the comments of the participants. One of the comments was to try and change the central image to a clearer picture or a silhouette. Upon reflection I believe that this is a great idea as I can use the music video videos mis-en-scene to signify the mystery behind the artist. The comments have also made me aware that the backdrop of the is too busy, I can appreciate this comment and have identified a way in which I can achieve this, one way is through the use of a gradient overlay or a colour overlay in Photoshop. This will make the design less busy and subsequently make the CD cover look more professional.

Another question for the participants is regarding the rest of the song names that will be located on the back of the album cover. The songs are important due to the continuity of the CD cover, this will improve the professionalism of the cd cover and make the digipak fit the current codes and conventions. The participants gave several suggestions and I have chosen the ones in which I best think suit both the genre of music and the space on the back of the CD cover. Some of suggestions include, ”come to me” “Patience” and also “the journey” however through my own prefecnces and the participants idea I am able to narrow the last to the final 10. The songs have to be quite short and have to associate with both the narrative of the music video as well as the EDM genre of music. The following list is the song list the will appear on the back of my cd cover.

1.Faded
2.Closer
3.Wishing
4.Alone
5.Counting down
6.Star stuck
7.Living in the past
8.Creation
9.Winner
10.Dreaming (feat. Travis Scott)

I believe that this song list is a combination of short and precise song titles with the conventions still being applied through the use of a featuring act. I believe that I will be able to use these song titles effectively and produce a professional ancillary task.

The last question in which I asked the target audience was the choice of the albums name, similar to the previous question I presented the participants with an array of different options that I have thought of and believe to fit the conventions of existing music covers. Upon reflection I am able to see that the participants have put together some interesting ideas, for example, one of the participants has suggested using the name of the song used in the music video “faded” this is interesting however I do not believe that this is conforming to the current codes and conventions as this is not widely seen when analyzing cd covers. Another option in which I enjoyed was the suggestion of “Expedition” This suggests the journey which is reinforced during the narrative of my music video.

To conclude I believe that this task has helped me drastically in regards to final preparations when making my ancillary tasks. The feedback has helped me gain pivotal knowledge upon the consumers needs while still conforming to the conventions of a modern day CD Cover
